So yesterday I was being braggy about how we have been eating better and then I proceeded to spend the whole day eating anything I could find in the kitchen. It was one of those days where I constantly felt hungry. I like to think I was eating mostly healthy things but I believe that doesn't make a huge difference when you are eating non-stop. I had leftovers for breakfast, a pb & j sandwich for snack (why??), a BLT for lunch, a smoothie for snack, a few graham crackers at some point, soup and salad for dinner and a cake pop from Starbucks for dessert. And don't think I didn't kind of try to convince my husband to order pizza for dinner. Last night's dinner plan seemed like so little food and obviously I was starving. But once we made the salad and added morningstar farm chicken patty and a boiled egg we realized that was plenty.
To kick off a better eating day I am having leftover salad for breakfast. I am refusing to have a pb&j mid-morning. Refusing! But we are going out of town this weekend so I am still quietly hoping there will be pizza involved.
When I wasn't eating everything I could find I was actually working. I found this amazing tutorial for making pom poms with flowers on them. I have always wondered how people do it. When I made the first one I was super excited! I couldn't quit and eventually I made a small pom garland. It was not on my list of to-dos for the day but you have to be flexible with the creative process. At least that's what I like to tell myself when I am not getting anything done! Find the tutorial
. If you like making poms definitely try this out. When you see that first flower you will feel so accomplished!
Before I sat down to write this blog I noticed an article from
that my friend
posted on Facebook. It is about how the author is constantly in go go go mode and her daughter does not have that same sense of urgency. The author eventually learns that rushing means not living. It was a really sweet article and is relevant to everyone, not just those with children. I want to have kids sooner than later and I hope I can apply what she learned from her daughter to my own life but I need to start now. I always have issues with time and feeling tense that I am not doing things quickly enough. I have only been doing my new job for a couple of weeks and I'm already feeling panicked that things are not progressing as fast as they should. I am in a constant state of anxiety and for what? Because I don't feel like I made enough cake decorations for my etsy shop? That's silly, right? But it doesn't feel silly so I think this article is something I need to pay attention to. I hope to have a child someday that is curious about the world and wants to study every single detail. I want to be able to take the time and study it along with them.
The article is here if you would like to check it out.
The Day I Stopped Saying 'Hurry Up'
FYI Mary from Monday's Etsy post just did a great tutorial on her blog for making hoop art. Check it out
Okay I'm off to work!
